Did Beyonce Doubt Her Dreams, Too?

Did Beyonce Doubt Her Dreams, Too?

Do you ever look at successful people and wonder if they ever doubted their ability to make things happen? I know, I have!

It’s hard to think that  really successful, strong and famous individuals have  ever being scared or that at one point they doubted themselves and their dreams because it looks like it is just “natural” for them to achieve greatness.

I was watching a special on Beyonce’s career the other night and was fascinated to learn that Beyonce’s first record label dropped her and she faced severe depression before making it “big”.

I’ve been a Beyonce fan since the “No,No, No” Destiny’s Child single debuted back in the late 90’s and for some reason in the almost 20 years that I’ve been a fan of hers, it has never once crossed my mind that Beyonce may have ever doubted herself or her dreams.

When we look at someone successful from the outside, we create all kinds of wonderful stories about their perfect lives and how easy it must have been for them to achieve their dreams. This is a fantasy. It’s our fantasy of what we want things to look like. The reality is very different.

And the road isn’t easy for any of us! The same doubts, fears and beliefs that tell us we need to scale back, limit our desires, tread gently or be someone else – creep up within everyone.

When I look back on the past few years, I know without a doubt I wouldn’t be where I am today (running a business that fulfills me, living in London, traveling around the globe, meeting incredibly influential people and living the lifestyle that I am now) if not for taking the step of leaving my day job and starting a business.

But there were definitely days on the journey of getting my business off the ground where I was curled up on my couch thinking “this isn’t working, maybe I should give up and go back to my job.”

But here is what I’ve discovered in the 9 years that I’ve been on this journey:  The moment when you make the decision to keep at it, especially on those days when it seems like nothing is working or its taking longer than expected to get results and nothing goes as planned, is what separates success from failure in entrepreneurship.

If I had allowed my doubt and fear to overrule me on those days when I was feeling unsure and scared, I probably would still be working at my old job, waking up at 6:00 AM to an alarm ringing, sitting in traffic each morning and spending the whole day anxiously watching the clock, waiting for another day to be over.

The key to living your dream LIFE doesn’t have to be hard. It just requires you to keep going even in the presence of doubt and fear.

And because I want 2018 to be the year that you Don’t let doubt or fear stop you from fully going after your entrepreneurial dreams, I’ve put together a power packed training class called “From Doubtful to Sure: Seven Steps To Move Past Your Fears And Get What you Want in 2018.”
